«RELATION» is a project funded by the European Union that aims at defining an innovative strategy against modern antisemitism, starting from a better knowledge of Jewish history and traditions as part of the common European history. This is a two years project 2022-2024 that puts in place a set of educational activities in Italy, Spain, Romania and Belgium as well as online actions in order to tackle this phenomenon.
¿What comes to your mind when you hear the word «RELATION»? ¿What type of images arise? Going back to the ancient roots of this word, we find out that it’s modern meaning comes from Anglo-French relacioun c. 1300, “relationship, connection, correspondence,” late 14c. as “act of telling or relating in words,” from Old French relacion “report, connection” and directly from Latin relationem “a bringing back, restoring,” from relatus 1520s “to recount, tell”.
Currently as a noun it means: the way in which two people or groups of people feel and behave towards each other, connection or similarity, the act of telling or recounting, the attitude or stance which two or more persons or groups assume toward one another. This project is an opportunity to transform hateful narratives into new ways of relating, a process that starts with words and respects for human rights.
